As some of you may know, my '07 was trashed a couple of months ago by an idiot that shouldn't be behind the wheel of anything. But yesterday I picked up my next ride...a 2005 America. Won it off of eBay from a gent up in PA. He put it up for grabs since he never really rode it. It came with Triumph saddlebags, long TORS, short sissybar w/ luggage rack and it was garage kept with right over 2900 miles.

My girlfriend and I went up Friday afternoon, spent the night, picked it up the next morning and I rode it back down home. That was a heck of a ride...just under 400 miles. Although I've riden longer in a day, that was certainly the hardest I've riden. My rump is still letting me know it this morning.

One thing I must comment on is how quiet it was, even with the TORS. I understand the 05 is 75cc short of the 07 I had, but I didn't think it would make that big a difference. Plus it still has a stock air filter; I'll be putting in a K&N this week, but I'm not sure if it wil make that big of a difference regarding sound. For those of you who have been around many Triumphs, is a significant difference in noise level expected between the 790 and 865? It really almost sounded like I was running stock pipes. Just curious that's all.

Next step is to talk the girlfriend into the VA ride next Saturday. Hope to see many of you there!
