So in plain English does that mean gas tank leaks? Or do the 08s run on hydrogen?

I'm guessing that fuel cell is the new fancy term for gas tank. except I read some article today about some race car and they said they replaced the fuel tank with a fuel cell, so I am not sure what that means, except mabe they replaced the fuel tank with a better fuel tank?

I think a fuel cell has baffles in it as opposed to a basic open tank, could be wrong since everything I have has a tank on it.

In racing, a fuel cell is essentially a flexible rubber tank covered with Kevlar. Virtually impossible to rupture in a crash.

So, it's a rubber and kevlar fuel tank.

What I get from this is that Harley recalled 50,000 bikes to stand behind a mistake they made in production and design.

That would mean they had a fault, recognized it, spent money to redesign the product, then give it away to make the product right. Very expensive.

Sounds like a pretty good company to me.

Turns out it's a problem with the fuel filter. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2008/08/16/2008-harley-davidson-flh-recall/
From the sound of it, it's in the tank with the pump because there is no mention of fuel spilling, just loss of engine performance.

That's what the term used to mean, still does to racers.
Now it mostly refers to a particular technology for producing hydrogen fuel.

I think HD marketing appropriated the term to describe the common pump-in-tank setup of modern electronic fuel injected vehicles in an attempt to sound cutting edge tech.

"Cutting edge tech", huh Bill?!

Well, hasn't The Motor Company ALWAYS been tightly associated with "cutting edge" technology, sir???

(I mean, just take a gander at the "Rockster" and that new "cutting edge" passenger seat on it, dude!...If THAT'S not "cutting edge techonology" then tell me what IS???)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Couldn't agree more. From what I'm hearing lately about the continuing saga of British electrics, Triumph could take a few cues from this latest news.

They discovered the problem after owner complaints of bikes stalling on the ramp up the tailgate!
