Greetings from Southern Australia! Home of the ultimate twisties for die-hard bikers (aka the Adelaide Hills)

I actually chose to ride up to Whidby Island last year, unaware that the Oyster Run was going on. It wasn't until I got to the ferry terminal and the booth attendant asked me if I was doing the run. Needless to say there were alot of bikes on the ferry. I ended up taking my own pre-planned route and just kept crossing the paths of others making the run. Little did I know that the island had other plans for me this past April (sounds like an episode of "Lost" now!).

If I have a bike by then, if Mother Nature cooperates and if I feel comfortable about the ride (I finally sat on an '08 EFI TBA last week), maybe I'll meet up with Z, Karen & ______. Gordie are you planning on going?

Cheers all.

O.K. I don't get it... If there is no official starting time, route or origin...

You get together with other riders, plan a route with your compadres and make Anacortes your destination. Some like to get there the day before so they can roam around the next day and others like to ride up, ride through then ride home.

Turns out I have a meeting in Great Falls, MT (5 hours the wrong direction) on Friday, September 26th so I won't be able to attend. I'm headed out this weekend however, before the white stuff starts to accumulate on the Cascades & Stephens Pass-

Hey Everybody!

Hope everybody is well. I finally got married on August 2nd and then spent a week in Maui and have basically been off the chart with riding over the last month or so.

Yeah, I will go rain or shine on this one. Been missing you guys a lot and sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. But I'm back in business baby! So let's ride!

Congrats Kirk!!! Best wishes for the two of you!

So, while in Hawaii, did you toss that Tiki-Cammo lid of yours into the volcano??

I'm still waiting for the doc to remove the pin from my left ankle. And I need to strengthen my left arm/shoulder a little more. So, no bike for me yet. Although I did sit on a 2008 EFI Blue/white TBA while at the Triumph dealer in Adelaide, South Australia last month. It felt good.

Thanks Conwy! And no, I didn't find the infamous camo lid in Maui, but I saw a nice pink one with lei's on it that had your name on it...LOL

That's cool with the EFI America. I've sat on the 08 non-EFI here and it doesn't fit my legs as well as the 07. The 07 is better for taller guys I believe. But anyways, it's still an awesome bike and the EFI is a great feature.

I hope all goes well when you get that pin removed and then you can be back on the road. When are you coming back from Australia?

Folks,
Sorry for the late notice on this but Karen and I are driving home from Portalnd right now (gotta love air cards and laptops) and we were discussing the Oyster Run...
We have a route thought in mind (basically get to Mikelteo ferry over to Whidby and up to Anacortes). We decided to do a pre-run tomorrow. Were not early risers so well head out about 10am after the morning fog/chill lifts a bit.

If anyone is interested in joining us well be departing Issaquah Cafe at about 10am...well be there for breakfast about 9am ish.

come one, come all, come none!

Karen and I went up to Anacortes via Whidbey Island today. The Island didnt bit us like it did Steve a few months ago
Great ride and good roads. No crazy construction or weird things.

We did realize it takes a bit of time. We left Issaquah at about 10:30am and arrived in Anacorted about 3pm. We took a couple scenic roads on Whidbey so lets call it 4 hours. That said If anyone wants to ride to the Oyster run Id suggest a straight shot up I5 then over to Anacortes via 20. Just get there....have a few hours of fun and then take the scenic route home.

I don't know if it's a good place to meet, but certainly a great place to eat, the Deception Pass cafe. About 3/4-1 mile North of the Deception Pass bridge on Hwy 20. We ate there last Saturday, kinda' Bohemian if that suits you, very good food. Might be busy with 5 million motorcycles scouring the country-side. The view from Deception Pass bridge will blow your mind

There is also the Rockfish Grill right in Anacortes on Commercial Ave., again good food. Might be busy with 5 1/2 million motorcycles scouring the country-side

Karen and I ate at Rockfish....tasty but as its at the end of the rally area its going to be busy.

I think our best bet is to get there and use those new fangled cellular telephones to meet up

Actually Karen and I were planning on slabing it up there and just getting there. That way we can park, enjoy food, people and bikes then have a nice ride home later in the day when it warmer and nicer.

Hey everyone,
I'm considering riding up Sunday morning, leaving Portland, around 7ish. If any other Portlanders want to ride together let me know. Anyhow, if anyone else want to exchange numbers to meet up in Anacortes let me know.

Take Care,
Brent

Dang it!! I wish I could join the "crowd". I'm going to be in a very bummed mood Sunday AM when I hear all my neighbours firing up their bikes and heading off.

Ah well...I don't like oysters anyway!!

However, I am a "biker" again. For the first time in ~6 months I actually spent 45 minutes on my bicycle today riding the bike trails around Kent and just working the left ankle and arm. With the weight gain of convalescence I need to get more exercise.

So... while y'all are enjoying the ride Sunday, I'll be making "vroom-vroom" noises, pretending I have Bubs, while I huff and puff along the Interurban trail. Maybe I'll wear one of Fasteddy's cool t-shirts!

Have fun, wear all your gear and post pics as soon as you can!!

PS: Bob's TBA is looking awful tempting, if I can just get a work commitment and win over my fiancee.

That's cool Bob, maybe when the time is right for me, we can make a private sale. (Yes Gordie, it is torture. So close, but not yet ready.)
I'd love to see your accessorized Rocket one of these days.
I hope you and John have a great ride, as well as everyone else. The weather is just looking better and better...grrrrr

Steve
