Sorry to hear you laid her down and that you have a few wounds. BUT, PLEASE!!!, before you go back out on the road get your self down to a MSF course. Both the statements you made above are talked about at the course.
When you are being tail gated you increase the folowing distance between you and the car in front, not shorten it. And you always, always ALWAYS Wear Gloves, along with long sleeves, pants and boots and of course a Helmet.
Sorry to get on you mate, really i am. But as a MSF instructor stories like this burn my butt.
