When I'm in my pickup, though they can't do too much except rant and wave their arms.

When someone tailgates me in my truck, I generally keep an eye on them in the rear-view and wait until they turn their head to look at something other than the road, then quickly downshift (so there is no brake light to alert them). They will usually stay back after that, and will remember the lesson later when they are washing the stain out of their pants.
