it is now against the law in the state of Florida to do a wheelie. it is law that both tires must be on the ground at all times. now i dont care to be doing wheelies and its a stretch for our bikes to try but there is this hump at an intersection in my hood that i just love to hit at speed and get airborne, i guess thats out now hahahahahaha just thought i would pass along the info about the new law so you guys with your sprints (Ryan)and triples dont get in trouble
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

A wheelie on a public road is already considered reckless driving and/or failure to maintain control in every state. This piece of legislature was undoubtedly some moron's pet project.

There is a roller coaster like road here that I love to fly over. If I have the right speed I usually ride a wheelie down the back side of the first hill. Not on purpose but the front end seems to just stay in the same position as if I was still going up the front side. If I let out of the throttle it would come down but ya know I just couldn't do that!

There is one of those in San Diego, that I used 35 years ago - to clear the entire intersection. I think it was Laurel Street near Union or Albatross (oh, my memory's going away?).

Sideways plates are illegal in CT also. My nephew built a chopper couple years ago. He put a sideways plate on the left side of his rear tire. Took the bike to be inspected, (had to be inspected because he was regesitering it as a home made composite). Inspecter told him he either had to straighten it out and center it. Or mount another one on the other side.As far as I know he still dont have it registered legal,He just take the plate off his roadking when he wants to take the chopper bar hoppin....kids.

I don't think you'd get pulled over FOR it, but if you got pulled over for something else and the plate didn't match up, then maybe you'd get an extra fine or something.

Well CT it would be..
Missuse of plates...big fine. Driving unregisitered vehicle...bigger fine plus vehicle towed away.
I keep telling the Nephew, "Do what you got to do to register it, THEN change it back".
Like you said Benny I dought any cop would pull him over for the side ways plate.

I just meant how would a cop know it was the wrong plate just by looking at it? He'd have to run the plate to see it's registered to a different bike, that's all. Sure he'd get a ticket if the cop had a reason to check, but he'd have to check...

I don't know about most other states, but here, anytime you're pulled over they run the plate number through their computer in the patrol car.

Same here.Usually if a cop has been behind you for while he runs your plate before he even turns the bubbles on. Or he sits in the partrol car and runs it, so before he ever gets out and asks "Do you know why I stopped you"?. He or she slready knows if you are leagal paper wise. CT no longers issues expiration date stickers for the tags on cages. (To keep punks from cutting them off). They just check you by computer now.

I have been pulled over , they never check here. At least they never used to. The VIN is right on the registration card they wouldn't need to run it just look at the VIN. They do run the tag when they pull you over but most cops here wouldn't know a 64 Triumph from a 69 Triumph or even either of those from a 54. They are too lazy to bother with VIN numbers here unless they suspect it stolen.

A moving violation? That means a rider visiting temporarily from a state where this is not illegal must re-equip his bike before entering Florida. Doesn't that violate federal law regarding public access to highways? I'n not surprised though. The entire FL legislature has sticks up their bums.

They forgot this one: "Must not be obscured by means of a movable opaque panel activated mechanically or electrically by the driver." And then there's "Must not be painted to resemble a Union Jack, thereby compromising the state's ability to visually identify registration of the vehicle."

When I was saying about swapping plates between bikes I was pulled over on my 58 T-110 with the tag from my 66 TR6C on it. All I got was a ticket for no inspection. Cop never knew the difference. They do run the tag but I have never had one verify the VIN on the bike. All they are normally concerned with is if the tag is valid. I also handed him the ins from the 66 at the same time.
