Ian, I heard the 1800 will only be available on the second Tuesday of the third full moon of the Indian summer and only in clear.
And only being produced in "Blue Smoke"

Received a letter reply from my correspondence to Triumph Motorcycles (America) Limited yesterday. In reference to the near future production of the New Thunderbird I requested their consideration of offering, as an option hard saddlebags similar to what was provided on their Rocket 3 Touring model and the, at minimum, option of a tank badge more akin to Triumphs typical tank badges. This was Peter J. Carleo’s response – Dear Mr Storms,
“Thank you for the letter that you wrote to TMA with suggestions for the new Thunderbird. It is always great to hear from our devoted fans and friends.
Your suggestions have been noted and forwarded to the UK. Keep a close watch on Triumphmotorcycles.com for updates on the new models, and other information about Triumph products and services.â€
Sincerely,
Peter J. Carleo Customer Relations Manager
Oh Well, somehow I was hoping for something more (don’t know what, but) in there response.
For those how care and or have not seen this - I found this site that mentions (not fondly) the new Thunderbird - ****** For Leather –search on 2010 Triumph Thunderbird

I figure you can count on a "Touring" version coming out after they introduce the Thunderbird. Only problem is that you will have to wait a year or more for that.

Bob, You are probably correct on the release of a full touring model. I would guess, and judging from the pictures showing all the optional equipment from the dealer show that they will see what happens with interest in the options they are providing the first year then develope an off-the-floor model from those observations. Kind of like they progressed throught the different models of the Rocket 3. Todays stock market action and it colateral damage will no doubt put some dampers on sales of everything that is not considered a necessity at least in the near future. It will be dificult just to get a small appliance loan much less a vehicle loan or anything of higher cost for the next few months.

I spoke to my dealer last week and his "opinion" is that there will be a factory 1800 kit for the T'Bird, which I must say stuck me as a little strange, as well as a ecu tune up to take the hp up into the 120hp range, which makes sense given that the bike will have to meet various euro, US and AU EPA standards...just saying. On the issue of accessories...I think we are going to see a lot of gear available out of the gate. In the same way HD gets it done. I've got my deposit down but I'm still enjoying my 03 speedy
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

New Thunderbird looks like the America with a bigger engine, cooler and upswept pipes.
As a former America owner, I like it.
