My house was built using Electric heat...sooooo they insulated the living sh!t out of it....now before everyone shrinks in horror of electric heat...it's actually NOT bad...I have TOTAL control of heating in EVERY room...not by zone, but by room...and because I can shut down any rooms I really don't use...I heat only the two Bathrooms, and both bedrooms...the bedrooms are on programmable timers so they only heat between 5:00-7:00AM and 4:00-10:00PM M-F
and 7:00am-11:00 and 4:00-10:00pm S&S my work shop heats (cause I'm and IDIOT) constantly...the total increase during the heating season is between $150-$200 per month (which could be less if I isolated my heating on a seperate meter) (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar)over the regular electric bill...I supplement with two+ cords of wood

total annual heating bill is around $1,400.00...

Compared to my old house in N.Reading MA (oil heat, forced hot air) about 600sq ft smaller we would burn thru about 700 gal of oil per year, (after I insulated the crap out of it and changed the sub par windows) at today's cost that would be....
