the new rods are for strength which is cheap insurance when spending the big bucks on the larger kits

the 989 seems the way to go as far as HP gains. It seems on here that the popular opinion is that the 904 is more reliable, can anyone speak from experience? Does anyone offer a 989ish kit besides BP?

Thanks

I wouldn't say it's more popular for reliability reasons, but more for cost reasons. Not many people want to spend the extra flow for the lower motorwork. British Customs has a bigger than 904 kit if you want to check it out, but everything they have is expensive.

But your HD started with a bigger motor and more power, and probably cost more initially, so thats not a fair comparison. My point is that britishcustoms.com is pretty proud of their items, and price accordingly.

BP has rights to all the other weisco kits. with that said his prices for the 904 are the same as everyone else and i will tell you if i had the money and a garage i would go with one of those larger kits

It's a bummer that BP holds the rights. I'd love to get the 989 but it just seems too expensive. I guess they realize that they have the market cornered.

Bigger motor..yes. More initial cost...no.. it's a 89. Bought it used..and the power to weight ratio was comparible.

BC makes good ******...I dealt with Sean when they sold the nikasil barrel's and the 904 kit when he was involved with matt capri. I didnt want a sleeved motor..so I bought from BC.

When Bill did his 904 kit with wisco, he didnt have the market cornered..you can look all over the net and find other distributors claiming to have "their own" 904 kit. Bill did the testing..and provided the bike for it..( Lee did actually )..he deserves the corner.

The stroker kit's are so expensive because of all the additional machining work involved..crank..etc..

even if others sold the bigger kits it would cost the same money. unless people really get into this stuff more it will stay expensive no matter what. we are lucky we even have this stuff for our bikes

+1. Still think it was the best money I spent on my bike since I bought it.

Frank,
Have you put your bike on a dyno? After seeing the price differences I'm wondering if a 904 and head work would be the way to go.

my last dyno really is not any good. i have talked to booth bill from bp and carlos from sb and they both said the dyno was not working right. i can say seat of the pants is a huge difference. i will re dyno it in the spring with a guy who is known for his tuning and whatnot.
