I want to upgrade the front brakes on my America. Rather than go down the twin disc road I am now thinking I might just upgrade the front caliper. I believe the oem brakes are nissan two pots, so if I whack on a 4 or 6 pot caliper to suit the disc and upgrade the master cylinder to something with a greater capacity all should be good. Are there any calipers out there that will bolt straight up? I'm thinking something off a trumpy sports bike or classic triple. Am I missing anything here or does it all sound feasible. Your input will be very welcome

Depending what year you have you may want to replace the rotor first since the older ones tended to warp. They changed the design now, the old ones had a step just below the breaking surface. The center being thinner, the new replacements don't have that step. Better yet would be a full floating rotor if you are going to go to the trouble of changing the caliper and master cyl.

What about a Thruxton front rotor, I think its bigger, may be floating as well, might need a fork leg as well though.

the floating rotor with hh pads are a huge improvement. i would start there. i am actually putting a 6 piston caliper on my bike with a harley master cylinder so i will let you know how that turns out. but unless you ride really hard, or always try and beat you buddy on his victory (me) then the floating rotor and pads should do it

I can't find it but then I have never had much luck using the search feature... I swear I recall a thread waaaaay back where somebody said a front caliper from a Suzuki Hyabusa bolted right up, was a six pot caliper. The more I think about it there was even a photo showing the swap and they used a new floating rotor from Brent. Anybody else remember this? My memory of this is based on the fact upgrading my front brake is on the list of things to do, someday. City traffic goes through pads like they were snack crackers plus even with higher quality pads that dinky little front brake leaves alot to be desired when things get all hot and stuff.

+1 with Frank. Just upgraded my front brake with EBC floating rotor and EBC HH pads, the differance is quite noticeable. The front rotor is MD601LS front pads FA196HH.
