When a guy on a custom painted HD pulls up next to you at a gas pump. And the bike has no badges not even a "Live to Ride" eagle on the air cleaner cover.Nor any other Identifing markings, ask him "Is that a Honda"?

The percentage you're paying is too high-priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams

I think the biggest jerk thing I ever said to a Harley guy was when a guy pulled up next to me at a light and said, "Wow, I've never seen one of those on the road before!" I looked at his electraglide (or whatever it was, they all look alike) and said, "I've seen a lot of those."

Ooh, what a jerk.

What do Harleys and dogs have in common?

They both like riding in the back of pick up trucks.

What is the difference between a Harley and a vacuum cleaner?

The position of the dirt bag.

Haven't you ever heard the saying?
95% of all Harleys are still on the road today...
......the rest of them made it home.

And when he indignantly replies that it's a Harley;
Sneer, and say "Well, hang in there dude".

Considering that you gentlemen probably know by now I personally do not subscribe to all of this "smartalecky wisenheimer" sort of thing, I'd just like to point out to you that if this kind of tomfoolery would become the accepted norm amongst us, some of those poor unfortunates who happen to ride the Harley-Davidson brand could in retaliation start a vicious rumor out there that could taint the good name of all of us who prize our English-built machines!

Yes! In fact, if this were to happen I would NOT be at all surprised to learn those said poor unfortunate Harley-Davidson riders might, ironically in this case, even utilize some form of an old Honda slogan to this end, such as perhaps..."You Meet The Biggest Smarta$$es On A Triumph!"

And gentlemen, THAT is something I would hope NONE of you here would allow to become an accepted premise among the our fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, NOR the public at large!!!

(for shame...for shame)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Oh God, those comments are so funny I've got tears in my coffee from laughing so hard. Agree that comments like these should not become the norm. However, I do say if presented with a absolute jerk of oppurtunity (and we all know they're out there), then feel free to jerk back.

Dwight,
I sense a little devils advocate game going on here. I've read a couple of derogatory Harley comments from you over the years. Who's calling their oil black now?

Now Ron, I have absolutely NO idea as to what you may be referring to in your above reply???!!!

(I dare say you must have me confused with some other of our fellow smartas...err...fellow Triumph Motorcycle enthusiasts around here, sir!)

Hum, riding home yesterday I saw 3 black identical electraglides (or streetglides??)parked together in one spot at a local pub.

I SOOO wanted to stop and make a comment about how the triplets look so nice and in a underhanded way take a jab at HD's supposedly uniqueness. Oh well I just kept on riding.

Last Spring, after going to Minnesota to meet some other members, I was in Red Wing Minnesota when I spied a BA identical to my own parked outside a pizza place. I parked next to it and went in to get a drink and say hello to the rider. While we were chatting a Harley rider walked in and said to the other BA rider "Looks like your little Triumph isn't so unique after all!"

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Now gentlemen, please observe if you will how our Mr.Millikan here was able to conduct himself in a most proper and dignified manner, even though temptation was beckoning to him to do otherwise!

You see, we ALL could learn a thing or two about how to...how to...SCREW UP A PERFECTLY GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO KID ANOTHER HUMAN BEING OUT THERE!!!

(sorry...I don't know what came over me there...please return to whatever business you had been conducting before my unfortunate outburst)

So if the catch phrase "You meet the STRANGEST people on a Triumph" pops up, could anybody argue it?

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

How about - your Honda seems to be rattling a bit you really need to trade up to a Triumph. The badges never fall off on these bikes!

Or... wait until you get a compliment on your bike and then reply by saying, "Thanks, yours looks good too, we all gotta learn on something!" I use that often as I am the only Triumph rider in a city of HD's...

Best looking black girl around! 2004 SM-spokes, solo seat, lowered rear, 14 in apes, bobber rear fender, no front fender. Flat black all the way around. Jeff
