Had a service call yesterday in Gunnison, about 65 miles away, and the smart part of my brain(the part I don't hear from all that often) says "yo, dude, the problem's already diagnosed and the part's on site. All you need is your tool bag. Think about it." Right!. Throw the tools on the bike, up the hill over Cerro Summit to Blue Mesa, through the canyon and along the lake. Get the part installed and head back. When I get to the dam, smart brain shows up again and says "If you turn right here, you'll add 90 miles to your trip home." Right! So its up hwy 92 along the Gunnison Gorge (MAJOR twisties)(and a few 1000ft drop offs - DO Not over cook the turns) and back home. No traffic, great scenery AND I got paid while riding. All in all, a very good Monday.

I used to have a HUGE territory when I was working microfilm stuff for Lanier. I would be driving from North Philly suburbs to southern Delaware thinking, I am getting paid to do this...

Of course doing it on a bike makes it MUCH better.

Don't ya love days like that, Mike?! You know. The kind that'll linger in the mind for a good long while!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Good for you man, I had a similar Tuesday, as I rolled 75 miles over to Superior to evaluate some beef, swine & lamb carcasses. Let's see,,,, two hours , one hour lunch, maybe 45 minutes of work. Even the cooler worked out as it was 90 dF when I left. It's a tough life, of course I sat in a meeting for two hours tonight .

You mean you didn't get soaked on the way back to Montrose? Having tasted a bit of your Colorado twisty stuff and scenery, I know the ride you speak of and why your day was so good. Hwy 92 was my favorite ride I did when I was out there. I stopped for awhile in Crawford, just sitting in front of the general store drinking a cup of coffee and taking it all in.

It's always nice when you get to ride for work. I had to go to seattle Monday afternoon and came back yesterday. The last three times I have been able to ride (I go every other week). Unfortunatley, this time I had to take a co-worker with me and a bunch of equipment, so I was stuck in the car.

Not this time Derek. I do remember to keep my rain gloves with me though. I love riding hwy 92 whenever I get the chance. You should try it in the fall when the Aspens have turned.

Sorry Dwight, at my age nothing lingers in my mind for very long.

130 miles X the 7/1/08 IRS mileage rate of $0.585 = $76.05

H3ll yeah!

You got that right! Being a small business with low overhead, my accountant LOVES that I ride my bike from my office to the customer site(s) (where I usually have a cube) every day. 200+ miles a week is very helpful in April.

Is that an invitation Mike? Can't do it this fall though, I'm getting a new knee on the 18th and I'm afraid I'm done riding for the rest of this year. There's the National Norton Rally in Colorado next year and I'm thinking about going, but it's probably in June or July.

Derek, get it done when you're good and ready but then do all the exercizes the therapist says cause ya gotta get it flexible.
I did get out for 3 hours today with the OL, great day to ride. No work either
