Hey everybody
I realise this is a bike forum but I need a little help with a car problem.

A few of you know I have a '72 Buick Riviera - well I just pulled the driver's door handle off!
The actual door lever has broken at what appears to be the pivot point.

Anyone have a car breakers near them?
Only if you're passing, could someone ask if they have a door handle assembly that is looking for a good home?

I know I'm not exactly next door to any of you all but hey, we have postal services and I have cash.

I can get most parts for the car over here but stuff like door handle assemblies are like rocking horse teeth ... I mean hens sh!t ... oh, you know what I mean!

Thanks in advance

FT

Guess I sent the wrong person the email, I have sent you one now. Hope I can help out.

Hey Rick
Thanks for the help, I'll try and get a pic ... if you could send me your e-mail address that would help me.
Thanks again guys and gals.

EDIT:
Message to self ... read PMs before opening thread!!
I have your e-mail address, I'll get the pic to you asap.
Thanks

*Update*

I just called back Turner's about half an hour ago this morning, FT. And they PROMISED ME they'd call me back "shortly" and give me an answer one way or another about this.

(I'm guessin' they go about it "the old fashioned way" and have to walk around their salvage yard, and don't have a computer in their office to check their inventory...at least that's my guess here)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Found this googling around, there are some links that might help you in your search but unfortunately I don't have THAT kind of time... If you can't find them, I say shave the door handle and install the remote opening mechanism with the hidden frame safety button to open those stubborn doors... lol

Sorry FT. I finally got a call back from Turner's, and no, they don't have one.

And their only suggestion was to call All American Classics, who I already called yesterday and who advised me they don't have that part either.

I don't have any other ideas at this time, so let's hope Rick in MO can find one there for ya.

(good luck, and I'm sorry I couldn't find one for ya out "Cali-forn-eye-a" way, dude)

What am I talkin' about???!!! I have "no more ideas". What a MORON I am!!!(yes...I said MORON!...see a particular other thread on this website to get the full gist of THAT statement, FOLKS...hint: it has "somethin' to do with HELMETS...although, you can also gain a little understanding of this "moron thing" on that LIGHT BULB thread TOO!!!)

FT, I THINK we might be in luck here. You see, I've just goggled "Buick Riviera Owner's Association" and talked to a guy named Ed who gave me the phone number for a guy who evidently specializes in Boattails. His name is Doug Seybold and his phone number is 1-440-835-1193. Ed said this guy has an ad in that B/R Owner's Club which says he has that part.

I called the number, but all I got was the ol' "leave a message" thing, and so I left my number and what you needed.

You may want to try calling that number yourself too.

*FINAL Update*

FT...Doug Seybold called back. HE'S GOT 'EM!!!

They're $95.00 + $10.00 shipping(but that's in the States, so probably a little more to Blighty...BTW, he's in Ohio)

Give him a call. He'll be expecting it. Once again...1-440-835-1193.

(and BTW...so it turned out to be a little more than 24hrs afterall......SO SUE ME!!!)

Thanks Cindy!

(and even though I've been told I look a lot more like James Coburn than James Garner, I suppose I can live with that "Scrounger" moniker alright!)

Hey Rick
Pics finally e-mailed.

Looking at what's left of the handle, I'm guessing left and right are the same (makes sense for manufacturing costs I guess).

DWIGHT
Thanks buddy, you da man ... unless Rick gets one cheaper then he's da man, not you!

Just bustin' ya chops mate, you know that.
Thanks for all your efforts.
I'll have to drop you some real beer in the post to make up for the 'phone calls!
