Don't forget the Show Talkers. These are the people that sit right behind you and talk about work or whatever. My wife will Sshhhh them like they are 5 year olds. I always love the look on their faces,...
Haha! Went to a Yes show a few years ago, probably around my 11th or 12th or 10th Yes show in 30-something years, but who's counting?! (Except for the jackhole sitting next to me who claimed it was his 27th Yes show going way back to when they were in the womb.) Anyway, as a Yes fan and especially a "Tales" album fan (saw the Tales tour in '74), I'm always hoping to hear "The Ritual", my all-time favorite Yes tune. It's rarely performed live. This night, however, it happened. But, it was almost to the end of the show, and after me patiently and painfully enduring during the show to this point constant talking, cell phone use, and the jackhole next to me trying to impress his wife, girlfriend, social worker, whoever, still talking about all the Yes concerts he's ever been to. Then, I heard the first note (I was always pretty good at recognizing songs in the first note or two just like the game show)- it was The Ritual, live, in front of me, been many years since I heard it live, and I freaked! I yelled out, without premeditation, "SHUT UP! And, everybody within shouting distance in front, in back, to the left, and to the right, DID! Even the jackhole next to me finally shut his piehole! Some dared to look at me, scaringly, as if I was a serial killer amongst them. But, all I could do after my outburst was smile like a mofo and enjoy in silence and without distraction, listening to something that I've been waiting so long for. And, Yes didn't disappoint! Thank you!
The moral of this story- don't be afraid or hold back to yell, "SHUT UP!"
