i routinely check over at triumphrat for anything interesting, and saw this over there. the official word is that as of the 2008 models, you can't replace the tank badges. however, somebody decided to pull their badge anyway, just to have a look. turns out, the holes are still there, under the badge that is glued down. of course, this is on a bonny, not the america. i was wondering if anyone here has checked the same thing, because i think some of the old school badges you can buy are pretty nice looking. here's the link http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-technical-talk/89685-2008-bonnie-tank-badge-replacement.html

Don't count on the holes always being there. They tend to use up leftover parts before switching to the new design. Like the first few '03 Americas got the Bonneville America decal on the side covers.

Would they even fit? The new tank has a different shape, right?

It would be wise on their part to keep the holes - people seem willing to shell out decent money for the bigger badder badges. Hopefully the T-bird will have the same ability!!!

They'll probably sell bigger badder stick-on badges for the same price that cost half as much to make.

I had to replace my badge on my 2008 (oops, oil, slide...). The dealer did it. I believe it is just adhesive, but I'll ask. There aren't any screws from the outside, it is a smooth badge. I'll try looking inside the tank with a light, too.

my impression is that it's a solid badge, glued down, but with screw holes for older badges underneath it. that's what i'm hoping, anyhoo. i don't know if i want to pull the badge off only to find that i need to reglue it, lol
