I prefer a bourbon myself and for the money the Evan Williams ain't bad as a mixer. I have tried the McClellands and Bowmore Scotches but prefer a bourbon or Canadien Whiskey myself.

Jamesons Irish in my coffee cup with some coffee for flavor and my day is off to a good start. At the end of the day with my pipe full of Captain Black I enjoy the Jamesons 12 year old over a couple of ice cubes.

Being from Guatemala, I'm partial to Zaya. Having lived in Puerto Rico for many years I can say that for mixed drinks and at a reasonable price, Don Q can't be beat - been trying to find it in Tennessee, but I think they like their bourbon and sourmash here. The best sipping rum from PR is Ron Del Barrilito (from the little barrel), but that can't be found stateside either.

Doesn't really matter as to the brand of whiskey or bourbon as long as it is 8 - 12 years old and KEPT IN THE FREEZER. Drink it neat and I guarantee it will warm your heart and not your throat. Johhny Walker Blue Label is a great drop.

Kentucky Bourbon - Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 year old by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery no water, ice, etc. - Neat (I'll settle for Makers or Knob Creek when I'm out)
Also had Black Bush for the first time at our Gunnison Rally (Colorado) and it may be Just what you're looking for. Smooth, a little sweet (aged in sherry casks) - Yummy
Ciao!

I prefer a good añejo tequila. I have some Doña Estancia that is excellent. Picked it up in Mexico. Haven't seen any (Doña Estancia) in the U.S.
No lime. No salt. That's for Cuervo, 'cause Cuervo is crap .
When my wife and I sent out for a nice Mexican dinner on our anniversary last month, we did a shot of Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia after the meal. Pricey stuff at $100-125 a bottle, and the $13 a shot the restaurant charged, but it was very good. It really had a bourbon-like taste to it though along with the tequila/agave taste.
And that's the problem with Tequila and Scotch. They've been taken in by the trendy crowd, and their prices are 2-3 times what a similar quality bourbon costs.

The FREEZER????? AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!! The freezer is for swill like Jaegermeister, not JW Blue Label or any Irish whiskey I've ever had!
By the way, MOST whiskeys or whiskys come to life with a drop of water added to it. A drop. If a drop doesn't improve it, try 2 drops.

A friend tells me I should try good Bourbon.
He's correct. Throw that foul, musty tastin' scotch in the loo and get yourself some Knob Creek. You'll be better for it.
Amen. I have various brands, types lying around the house. Jack, Jim Beam Black, Turkey 101, Blanton's.
