Just wondered what the most popular kind of jacket is, leather, textile, with pads or without.
I wear an un-padded patrol style from JTS, bloody brilliant leathers.

Although it isn't safe to not wear a jacket, it's just TOO DANGED HOT here in AR durng the summer to wear one when riding. I usually wear a long sleeved T-shirt in the summer, and an unpadded generic basic leather jacket in the cool months.

I wear a Triumph mesh jacket with armor in the summer. When it gets above 100 I just wear a long sleeve T-shirt; which means most of the Texas summer.
When it gets cool I wear the armored mesh jacket with a windbreaker/pullover underneath.
I wear an armored leather jacket when it turns cold.

Warm to hot weather - Joe Rocket mesh jacket with the back brace removed, but shoulder and elbow pads left in.
Cool to warm, Levis denim jacket
Cool, Univerisity of Tennessee orange and white leather jacket. Very visable in poor visability
Cold. ????? not familiar with that term. What is cold?
Poor visiabilty or night time with all of the above i wear a Bright Dayglo Yellow Sam Brown belt for added visabilty. Works very well. In the dark i feel naked without it.

Year around I wear a yellow and black Cortech GX-Air. It is hot when you are sitting still but since it is mesh, it has a nice air flow even on 100 degree days. It is not as hot as the sun on my bare skin. I selected the yellow for visibility and might might a gray one next time. I have gray over pants and they are cooler than dark jeans.
In the winter, I use the zip in liner which itself has a zip in water proof liner. It's good down into the 40's with a warm shirt.

More often than not I can be seen riding around here from April to October in one of seven or eight different "Triumph" tees or a "rally" T from Sturgis or a short sleeved button down sleeveless "Sturgis shirt."
although the morning's often still require a jacket in the early mornings some days even into early June.
On work days in hot weather I wear a nice button down short sleeve for work appearances.

Power trip leather when at all possible. But to be honest in summer most of the time a sleeveless tee. I usually wear my joe rocket gloves and a full face helmet, jeans and boots...sometimes tennis shoes. I feel unprotected a bit, but at least i dont have a heat stroke.

Almost all summer, even when it's fairly hot, Triumph leather jacket with armor. I don't sweat easily, and it doesn't bother me much. If it gets above 90 F, I have lately been wearing a leather vest, i.e., no sleeves. but I never ride with shorts, never without my leather riding gloves.

Almost always I'm wearing my Tourmaster Coaster II leather jacket. Only once every so often I'll only have a long sleeve shirt one. If hot/warm, then the liner is removed and vents open. Colder, then the liner is in and vents closed. I always wear the armor; it's there and no real reason to remove it.
A VERY comfortable jacket. I was actually cooler with it on while riding through AZ in mid-July. It kept the blasting, nasty-hot air off me. I pumped out a lot more sweat when I thought I would be better without it...wrong.

Today I was in my Triumph Integra jacket.... but it was a little too hot for that, I have a Joe Rocket Mesh Jacket that I have for even warmer days - today being one of them. My Integra is great for Spring to Autumn, as if it gets a little chilly I can stick a hoody on underneath it. Winter, I have a thick Triumph Jacket I bought at a clearance sale Triumph have at the Stafford Classic Bike Show....for the bargain price of £35.

I have an old classic heavy leather motorcycle jacket I bought 20+ years ago from Purple Hog. I have a more yuppie style leather jacket, but I seldom ride with it because it is cut longer and could pose a safety hazard by catching in the fender braces. For less serious riding, I have a Triumph school style jacket with leather sleeves.

Have the Triumph "Westbourne" jacket for those colder days.
Purchased a Triumph "Team Blouson" jacket which is nice on warm days. The arms can be zippered off leaving only the center section.

Today, I should have worn my Hein-Gericke armored, vented Gore-Tex wunder jacket. But it was 97 degrees and 70% humidity, so I didn't. It should come as no surprise that the skies opened up on the way home after 100+ seamless miles. Wet but happy, SteveB

In the hot days I have gone to a Tourmaster MeshTech 2. Good breathablity and armor protection. When a bit cooler I have an ICON similar to the ones above. Both have zip-in liners for the colder days. I like ICONs stuff but have not checked out their mesh stuff. I was also considering going to the armored shirts from Bohn or TPro with just a long sleeve shirt. Not sure if that will be cool in the dog days.

Warm weather: Triumph Mesh jacket with armor.
Cooler, cold, & very cold: Fox Creek Vented Racing Jacket (good down to at least 30 degrees). Wish it had armor though.

Hot Weather & Road Trip = Powertrip Mesh Jacket with Armor Hot Weather local rides = White Longsleeve T-shirt with reflective tape
Cool Weather = Hooded Sweatshirt with reflective tape.
Cold Weather (for the South) = Powertrip Mesh Jacket and liner and sweatshirt.
Looking for new Cool Weather jacket but must fit XXL chest and options are limited. Most imported stuff is undersized even if sizes sound okay.

That is a great jacket... do they still make that? It looks like good heavy leather.
Here's a tip for all of you that wear a classic style like Dog's or mine: Take a piece of leather about 2.5" or 3" wide by a few inches long and put two male snap posts on one end of it side by side. Use a size snap that matches those on the collar of your jacket. Usually a Tandy #4 Durable Dot Snap. What is it for you ask? Take the piece of leather you just created and snap your collar snaps onto it. Lay it flat against your neck\chest and fold the lapel flaps of the jacket over and zip up the jacket. The end result brings the collar close around your neck and cuts against the wind chill like the banded collar type of jacket does, but when it's warm in the afternoon, you just un-snap it all and put it in your pocket. I refer to it as my "Biker's Necktie". You can put bike pins on it or leave it plain. If you know someone who carves leather they can whip one up with a design on it as well. Works Great!

My jacket looks brown in the shots but is black and unfortunately they don't make it anymore. I want a slightly larger one for Wendy. We each have one that I lucked into on Ebay. Both were new with tags and got them for $80 each. I love the brass zipper, snaps , and buckles that say Triumph on them. Only jacket they ever made that I like. Wouldn't mind a slightly larger one for myself it fits me but just barely if I take the armor out.
Strip of leather is a good idea but I carry a leather face mask I carry in my jacket pocket that has a neck piece that goes past my neck line. I can either tuck it in or leave it out, Normally leave it out since it's hard to turn my head when I tuck it in.

I have a Tour Master Coaster II which I really liked but yesterday the zipper slider broke, the jacket is 2 months old and I contacted Tour Master cause I think this is a manufacturing defect and it is still under warranty. Now on monday I have a ride with some friends and no jacket to wear... I'm not sure if I should get the jacket fixed by a tailor (I fear workmanship quality) or just take the risk and wear a long sleeve shirt while I wait to hear back from Tour Master.

I made the mistake of letting a tailor put a zipper in my old Brooks leather jacket. They totally disregarded my instructions and the stitching wasn't up to par either in my opinion. They put this big bulky zipper in it that I specificly told them not to and if they couldn't get the right zipper like it came with to just leave it alone but they put the big ugly bulky zipper in it.The teeth and slider were twice the size of any leather jacket I ever had. Also where the leather folds over at the edge they missed the edge in a few places. I ended up not having to pay for it but in my eyes the damage was already done and they didn't replace the jacket. (I didn't ask them too, that would have been unreasonable but I wasn't at all happy) I'll never do that again, I'll replace my own.

I do not want to send it to a tailor cause I just think they will not do a good job since no one so far have done motorcycle jackets before... I can fix it myself with the right slider but can not find it anywhere... Tour Master has thus far not responded to my email... I'm gonna be mighty pizzed if my jacket can not be fixed.

C'mon man...what do you expect? I'm going out on a limb here and figuring it's made in China...and they probably sell at least a few million units a year across their whole line. Of course you're not going to get any customer service...you bought a piece of ****** and you're going to be left with a big pile of ****** after all is said and done.
Buy a quality product from a quality manufacturer and it WILL last a lifetime. Period.

There is a lot to buying a quality piece. I still have my Brooks and it is about 23 years old. Only thing wrong with it is the edges of the sleeves and the edges of the neck are starting to wear through where the leather is folded over. The zipper needed to be replaced about 5 years ago.

no, not made in China... this is my second one of these; the first one did its job VERY well when I had my accident and the reason I bought another one. Crashed, slid and rolled on the floor... got right back up without a scratch; my shoulder was bruised due to the impact but that's to be expected, not a pile of ****** by a long shot... are you judging the whole jacket just because the slider broke? really? the manufacturer probably didn't even make the slider. If this jacket really was a piece of ****** I would say it is but it isn't, can't judge it by a ****** slider man... anyway the leather is excellent, the seams are perfect, has good ventilation and overall I'm happy with it, I just can't believe the slider just snapped in two. I just need a new slider, that's all. I really don't wanna ship it out anyways, it'll cost more to ship it to the manufacturer than just buying a new slider...
