I would think that the idea is to make some previous Triumph owners buy the new bike but more importantly would be to attract new owners into the Triumph family.

Having it look "Japanese"? It's a cruiser, there is only so much you can do. If you want it to look completely different you end up with the Victory Vision.

Ryan, that's what's great about options. If you like the pipes you keep them, me I'd like them to be straight. Meeting glazer's option of saddlebags just makes it that much better.
