Im just glad its not "gotta have it" with me cause i like used bikes and you gotta wait a couple years for those.
I can like it if i want to, but it doesnt seem to have as much character as the other triumphs. And Ill probably be pretty pssd when Im seeing these all over the place because the masses like these designs

actually now seeing them side by side, you can see an offset gas cap which is bonne-esque, but when youre offsetting it around the long center console, its sort of an HD thing...No?

This is not a criticism or anything, but has anybody else but me noticed that this engine is not a true "vertical-twin" in the classic Triumph(and BA/Speedy) sense? It seems to be canted forward a few degrees.
But, aesthetically I think it works pretty well, as the angle of that cant mirrors the forward downtubes and frame rails just behind the cylinders.
(though have I mentioned that it's kind of a shame that there's NO FINNING on those cylinder barrels?)
I saw that as well Dwight. Kind of, sort of, like a Thunderbird on steriods, or a Thunderbird Sport in an America frame???

They ought to call it the Phoenix. It sure isn't an america or speedy.
The real question is will the belt drive mate up to our sickles? Meaning will they be interchangeable?
Hum seems to be growing on me though. Now as the folks at the House of Power say, "That Mr Bloor, the humble drywall man from New England..." Right. Spot on those boys in Palm Bay, Florida. Spot on.

My reaction seems to be going in reverse. My initial thoughts were positive, but the more I look at it the less I like it. I'll keep my Speedy Oh, and my Sprint too

Triumph 2009: THUNDERBIRD TWIN: details of the Thunderbird. Parallel twin in 1600 cubic has belt drive and will be able to get with ABS brakes when it is launched some time in the course of 2009 - as a 2010 model.

It's not ugly enough. I still want a Rocket III. But I'll wait until this thing comes out in a year and a half to see if it helps drop used Rocket III values.

Poor triumph, this new bike has the worst fender bob job ever... The guards just shout cheap 'made in Taiwan' (no offence to Taiwan) to me. Lets compare it to Hyosung, looks kinda similar to a GV250 Aquila with a fender job! Just my opinion, but I will also be keeping my 2005 America!

my TBA ... reaches out and smacks you across the chops and says LOOK AT ME, I'M A TRIUMPH...
Which is exactly why I bought mine also. If not for the classic Triumph paint scheme on the blue/white America, I would have bought a Bonneville or a used big-twin HD.
It's difficult to determine scale in press photos, but this latest Triumph looks to me like it won't fit a 6-foot rider. I have that problem with Sportys, too, and a bigger motor doesn't help. All in all, I'm disappointed. These pics are really an anticlimactic revelation.

Toooooooooooo bad the economy sucks right now.If the thing is not too heavy I might like it.It looks pretty nice.I can not afford a huge payment.I was thinking of testing a new Victory but this makes me want to wait and ride the new Triumph.I prefer the instruments above the handle bars, maybe they will have two versions.

Looks to me that you'll have to remove the tank to get at the sparkplugs. I'm not crazy about the looks but it will probably be a nice ride.

I must say that tangerine Bonnie is sweet.
As I review the comments and recall the posts over the years, the T-Bird is exactly what the comments/wish lists dating back to 2004 have asked for. As for that bobbed rear mud guard - It's not my cup of tea - however, it fits the bike nicely. If I really believed I need more than my SM delivers, I believe it would be at the top of my list. My track record is to buy a new bike every 10 - 20 years. I'll see then...

I am inclined to liking it but what does it weigh and how much weight can it handle? Hopefully more than my speedy. I do prefer my gauges up above the bars due to the chin bar on my helmet blocking my view.

Just not digging it. I do like some of the styling cues but can't get past the Jap knock off engine! The Triumph P-twin is the most beautiful engines out there. to me that is not a petty point since the engine on a motor cycle is out there for all to see.

Yep! I agree James. HEY!!! Do ya think that engine might have looked a little better if they would have maybe put a little FINNING on those cylinder barrels? (Attn Friar John...Attn Friar John...where is that little gremlin dude who's repeatedly smackin' that dead horse?...I have the feeling many many folks around here are waiting for you to post that everytime I mention those bare cylinder barrels around here...am I RIGHT, folks???!!!)

Yes, but even that is I think a unique shape in itself (the New-Triumph tank shape perhaps?).

Cant say as I like the upswept pipes, gives it an 80's jap look. Dont care for the head light either.Or the radiator. Thanassis is right though she does look sweet from the rear

Looks too much like a cruiser cross sport bike. Kind of a Truxton x America. This is what Moto Guzzi does very well in their lineup. Not my cup of tea. Will stick to the America and probably get a Rocket III in the future.
