Going down a long straight road, no intersections , light traffic. I turned my head to read a sign on the side of the road and when I turned my head back what should appear from under the car in front of me but a four foot long tree branch about four inches in diameter laying on an angle. No time to swerve I gripped the bars tight and bounced over the branch at 55 mph. The handlebars tried to yank from my hands and the rear end hopped up and over about six inches. I managed to ride it out, no harm no foul. But it just goes to show you that even when you think you are on a road that should not contain any surprises , you can never let your guard down.
