As I was leaving work today, I was trying to get out of the parking lot. Had an appointment that I was already running 15 minutes behind for. A fellow employee decides to block the entrance/exit of the parking lot with his van and make time with a little blonde cutie employee waiting for a bus. Meanwhile a line of traffic is forming behind and on both sides waiting to exit as well. It's a T shaped intersection and he was in the | of the T blocking as those of us coming in from -> and <- were waiting. I waited a while and then went to cut by him. Just as I started to go he guns it away without looking. I stopped but was off balance as I had just started to lift my foot to take off in a right hand turn. The bike was leaning and I did all I could to save it but it's angle and it's weight were more than I could recover from. I watched as my beautiful new Speedy (of which I haven't made the first payment on) slid to the ground. Now my mirror is totally messed up and needs to be replaced. The brake lever was messed to, but being aluminum, I was able to remove the gouges made by the pavement. Sorry... I just needed to vent. I am tired of so many in this world being the center of their own universe, totally unaware of others about them.

That's a pain! Just a thought but have you considered kicking him square in the nuts? The OBSOLUTE minimum, I'd p*ss in his gas tank!

i feel your pain. I have dropped my bike a few times but I always feel awful about it. On the plus side, you have somebody to blame it on. I usually just have to kick myself.

I'm right there with you brother. A jackhole totalled my America by running into it while it was parked. Some people just need to stop breathing.
I continue to say, a flamethrower and a .45 will cure many of the world's problems.

Thanks for the replies... being the IT guy for the company I work for, I would like to figure out who it is and then go into the payroll system and mark him in for a pink slip.. or deduct the cost of a set of mirrors off his pay... lol, just kidding of course...

Okay! Once again, it looks like it's up to ME to be the "bad guy" around here and 'splain somethin' to people!!!
Yep Bill, while you COULD put the whole blame on that moron alright, I THINK there's somethin' that YOU just might have done to maybe not have this happen. And ya know what that was???
It was....MAKIN' SURE YOU MADE EYE-CONTACT WITH THAT MORON BEFORE YOU ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER AROUND HIM, so he would'a known what you were about to do!!!
(and now you know why I'm not the best loved dude around here...'cuz...I ALWAYS calls 'em as I sees 'em!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Glad you weren't hurt. Do like everyone else and start customizing before the first payment. Yamaha V-Max mirrors screw right onto our stems. Or the cheaper Emgo versions. I think I remember having to buy two rights.

Uh huh! And let me guess here, Wade?! Those stickers are probably either one of those fish with feet and it says "Dwight" instead of "Darwin" on the inside...OR...they have my name beside a picture of the south end of a northbound mule, RIGHT?!
(and I'm guessin' that second choice has probably outsold that first choice 10 to 1 in the Peach State too, huh dude?!)

I like the way you think
The percentage you're paying is too high-priced

I've been thinking about having a "Draft Dwight in 08" Bumper sticker made up.

My Speedmaster has only been down once, and i wasn't even on it. I guess it was my fault though. Right after my bro-in-law had secured permission to buy his Speedy(and after a few beers) I told him to go ahead and sit on mine. I told him not to be afraid and to put his weight into it and just whip it up. Well he must have thought it had a kickstand on both sides cause he went up and over, lucky for me the bag for the lawnmower and a pile of extention cords were there otherwise i might have decked him. All i had to do was yank on the right side pipe and all was back to normal. But as soon as I got his bike home for him he dropped it twice trying to ride in the hood.

While stopped at a light I noticed in the mirror a large Excursion in my lane coming hard and fast. I had left about 15 ahead of me so I popped out the clutch and ran up onto the sidewalk where I dumped the bike. In the meantime the Ford slammed on the brakes and screeched to a stop less than an foot from the rear bumper of the vehicle that was ahead of me. I then noted the Blonde Yuppie lady on the phone and with a cup of coffee in the other hand. No wonder! If asked I am sure she would have apologized in an offhand way while I was carted off to the hospital.
All I can say is always be aware and never leave your bike in neutral at a stop. Be aware of any and all escape routes and always leave space to maneuver to it. By dumping the bike I again customized my shift lever to the right. It works and I am still riding
