Hi - finally received my SS long slash cuts today. I have taken off the Triumph long slash cuts to remove the rear brackets, but one allen bolt on each bracket is spinning. I have tried to centre punch where the captive nut overlaps the pipe, but it still spins. How can I stop it spinning enough to allow me to undo the bolt without damaging the pipe? I don't have a welder. Thanks, Rob

I stopped mine from spinning with solder. They've held for 4 + years. I suspect you might get the same result with J-B Weld or similar epoxy. Get as much between the outer perimeter of the threaded connection / nut (?or whatever that thing is) and let it set up.

I failed to mention that in order to make a place for the solder/adhesive, or whatever you use, to get down in there, I drilled approx. 4 holes (about 1/32 - 3/64) at about 12,3,6,9 o'clock around the outer edge.

I tacked Wendys in place with my mig welder, but to get the bracket off I carefully ground the head off the bolt with my cut off tool. Then I tacked it with the welder and turned the rest of the bolt out with pliers. Solder should work if it's clean enough but if you want to save the pipe don't get it too hot.

Once you make the repair, replace those bolts with some stainless steel bolts and use some anti-sieze on them. It just might prevent the problem in the future.

Hmmm... had to drill the top off the bolts with a 10mm cobalt bit. Quick and easy, and now I can use an easyout reverse thread stud remover and hold the lip of the nut. Anyone seen any chrome brackets for sale? Triumph do not list the brackets as a seperate part apparently, they just come with the pipes.
