I work a one a week on, one week off schedule. Seven 12 hour shifts to make 84 hours for the week on. My week on is 167.5 miles away from the house, so I rent a room. I also spend 3 months a year in the middle east. So, I'm with the family and bike 5.5 months a year (includes vacation).
I bring a week's worth of provisions (clothes, left-overs, etc.,) with me in the truck, so I don't ride to my work locale. I'm surprised I've put as many miles as I have on the bike with this schedule (13K/2005).
Needles to say, wife and family are very understanding. They're used to the separation as I'm also retired military.
I'm on vacation now, so you know I'm riding everyday!
