Personally I prefer to ignore the 70 MPH limit on the Iowa interstates. 35 years ago it was 75 during the day and 65 at night. 70 on the regular highways and 60 at night. 55 would be very unpopular with those who actually drive some. It seems to be popular with those who fancy themselves as our nanny state overlords however.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
