One thing I have noticed is that the console on top of the tank does not fit properly now they have re-shaped the tank, it has a very large gap at the front. I presume this is to save cash on retooling. will take some pics later today

That's not the same console as my America. There is a small flange / lip thing around the bottom edge. Unless the Speedy / America consoles are different (I doubt that from a production cost point of view), that new tank console looks different to the old tank console.
If they are different consoles, I'd just check it's fitted correctly.

Things have got very complicated from the carb side, but technology moves on so they say, just hope the ECU is built by somebody better than GILL. Would be nice to catch up Dave, it's always nice to saee ya

Changed the air filter tonight for the K & N one, also going to change the pipes for the TOR's before it goes in for its 500 mile service on the 18th.
This will mean a remap

At 196 miles on the clock the light flickered then went off, at 201 miles it came on and did the same at 211 it stuck on, but if you go round a corner it went off again and then it took it a miles to settle in again. I filled up at 211 miles. Very impressive, rev counter still kept below 3000rpm so in reality you will not get this sort of mileage the majority of running around were on country lanes keeping the speed down to around 50/60mph.
Seem to get a vibration through the bike when accelerating in top from 40 mph, it feels like the rear wheel is misaligned, and can feel it through the foot pegs, anyone else get this slight vibration, it does goes as the revs pick up.

Glad to see you got the new bike Ray, that thunder at Glasson was something else, would not have liked to have been on the bike that day. Respest to you even contemplating riding in that. That looks one complicated under tank arrangement. See you at Knott End if it ever stops raining. All the best Chris

That is impressive Ray, be interesting to see what milage you get after the running in period Mind you is the tank capacity larger with the new tank? I seem to recall the original is only around 16.5 litre, or is it similar with the reserve if you know what I mean...I know what I mean anyway...

I don't usually use the fifth gear below 60 mph. Don't know whether gear ratios are slightly different with the bigger bore engine...?

I cant remember what the tank capacity is on the older tank, the new tank is 19.5 litres. I use 5th gear all the time and if I am doing 40mph I will be in top gear..
Will see what its like after the run in period and I begin to use the rev's more.

Moe I think I found the ECU on it today while, putting my cable back on for the optimeter it looks as though it is located behind the battery

If the idiot light comes on, read here "MIL", and you know like me it is because you have played around with the bike, the bike will reset itself after 3 or 4 times it reaches tempreture, it still leaves the error code in the ECU, but you do not have to take it to the dealer for them to turn the light out for you. At £20.00/$40.00 a throw a nice little saving..

Wow, there's a lot more stuff on there with the EFI than with the carbs. That's one thing I like about my '03 is the simplicity. I do like the rain cover for the ignition modules. I'm surprised that it still has a choke with the EFI, what's the point? Shouldn't the ECU take care of all that? My Daytona with EFI doesn't have a choke.
Besides that it looks great, Ray.
