Even if you do your research and the club you might choose to join (if they will have you and vice versa) is a nice family club with no adverse outlaw affiliations there is still a "commitment" usually. And there are usually "politics" as well.
If you occasionally ride with your local RAT riding group thats exactly what it is ...a riding group with no strings attached. You ride with RAT when YOU want to and you have no obligations to make X number of runs or events.
MC clubs usually expect and have rules as to attendance and if you dont fulfill those you might be drummed out of the club even a nice familial club like Bikers for Christ etc etc.
The one percenter clubs speak for themselves and anyone who really wants to be member will need to fulfill "obligations"
Most law abiding citizens will not want to fulfill those kinds of obligations.

I'd pick the jacket over the club any day. But I'm going to copy Celt and get a Lone Wolf - No Club pin (I don't have anything I want to put patches on).

Hmmmm, wings and a helmeted skull. I can see why the Red and White might take exception.

The guy probably wanted to see if you had the clout to show up again with the jacket on. Just wanted to see if you were as "bad" as your jacket is.
I dont blame you, those jackets are pretty expensive I wouldnt wanna risk it getting torn off my back while laying face down

I've not really read this thread....till today.
Tell 'em to feck off. If they don't like your choice in jackets they ain't worth knowing in the first place. Nowt really wrong with it.
Go to the TOMCC event, yes you may be the youngest one there (I normally am) and yet I've never had a bad time with any of em. At Mallory weekend before, I saw one of the Brum and Wolves guys who I see once a year at our local rally, but I can never remember his name, he always remembers mine. Always says hello.
My fav pub in Bristol is a pub where a club meets - I was going in there before the club started going there. I don't tend to take my lid in there when I know they are going to be in there (it's oppostite work so I leave it in it's little locker), as they still treat there women with contempt (i've never seen one with a patch on their back, just a little patch on the front).
I'm quite happy with the meet up's we have on here - ok sometimes wish we had a few more... - and it's great on here for the tech stuff and the worldwide banter.
Stay lone......except for with us of course!!!

03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

Maybe it's me.....but I ride my bike to get away from other people !!! Never really got my head around the whole 'group riding' thing. On my own, I start off when I want....stop when I want...eat and drink breaks when I want....smoke breaks when I want....go home when I want.
And my mobile phone is with me, but switched off. Can anybody explain why you would need your mobile phone hooked up to speakers and a microphone in your helmet just in case somebody called you ???
I ride alone for the peace and solitude.....why do I need a phone conversation ????

I joined and some time ride with Southern Cruisers. They do a meeting and a dinner every month. They also try to do several rides a month. From what I have seen just a bunch of people who love to ride. This is a link to the national web page Southern Cruisers
