Heck I live in rural America and when I travel I stay near the small town two lane roads. I tend to search out the local cafe'/restaurant to get a "lay of the land" and what people are thinking. I'd imagine the same philosophy holds true in Europe, Australia and even Greece or Arkansas ( ). And no, it doesn't sound stupid.
