One mod I would add is to cover up the front of those right angle horizontal pieces. If, heaven forbid, you get rear-ended, they would be heading straight for your kidneys.
Ace Hardware carries some rubber plugs in various sizes up to 3" in diameter. They look like the cork plugs in an old wooden keg. Don't mean to be Mr Gloom, just my two cents.
