then he kept following me. i didn't know what to do. he followed me a little further. finally, i climbed on and rode the guy. and those of you who have ridden with me know what i mean . thanks go out to Martin (aka Bucky)for taking the silly photo of me. we went on a mertandmartinmagnificentmotorcycleridethroughmassachusetts on saturday last. we had a great time getting lost and stuff. it was the good kind of getting lost. put over 300 miles on the little guy that day. going in for first service tuesday next. after that i'm reeeaaaaally gonna ride 'im. PS: i figure it this way. since i can't have a puppy (like some people i know and love,) i can have a boy bike to love and play with.

Well already told ya I think it's super sexy and suits you quite well. Congrat's on the new wheels lil 'm', uh, try to behave yourself on it, eh? (I couldn't, I'd get so many tickets I would only have to pretend I actually have a license)
Oh hey, by the way... do they offer the FrankZappa edition in anything along the lines of a big heavy weight cruiser? Check on that for me could ya?

Wow, beautiful and that bikes pretty sharp as well. Congrats Mert that is one nice looking ride. I hope the other ride in your life understands that you just needed to try something different. Mike

Sweet ride!! I'm really digging some of the "standards" offered these days... At least now your spaceball helmet fits the ride you're on

thanks guys. i have had the itch for a couple of years. lusting after the speed triple and the street triple did me and my little inseam no good.
was fixated on a buell xb12cg for a while this spring. long story, not worth repeating.
thought long and hard about a duc monster; then un-thought about it. cost of maintenance, etc.
did some research. spec-ing out bike after bike...too bad i never thought to look at MV agusta's brutale...OMG...another story for another time.
when i sat on the yammiFZ6, my body said, yup. it fits. 410 lbs. red line at 14000. 600cc. 90sumpin' to the rear wheel...
okay. you may follow me home now.

it's pretty cool that you don't get it, Roger. that's part of the whole, "it doesn't matter what you ride; just ride." philosophy. well, actually i was pretty pumped about the xb12cg. 28.6" seat height. dang perfect. 52" wheel base; thought it was going to be just right. but when i got into riding position, on the bike i never got to ride (part of the story i don't feel like telling) that short wheel base was more than disconcerting.
the color...well, that was a tiny little issue. i am no fan of red; but the translucent red Buell has on a couple of bikes this year is sweeeee-eeeeet.
then, as i mentioned a couple of posts ago; there is this:
i think i have an illness.

Love your new ride Shari. But the question is, how are you going to decide what to ride to Ga.Rally '09?

I have always been a fan of Yamahas, i have had 3, including an R6(too many wheelies, started to hurt my reproductive system). Is that an FZ1? I have always wanted to ride one of those....

well, sitting on the tiger was as subtle indication of what was to come.
i am really happy with the FZ6; but i still say, "shame on Triumph" for leaving the li'l m sized people out of the sport bike class.
the yamaha already has enough miles for first service. had that done yesterday; had i not worked a grave yard last night, which has left me feeling like a freakingzombie, i'd be out shaving chicken strips right now.

Now that I have the Tiger, I collected my first speeding ticket. I'll be in VT this weekend looking to collect another. It's hard to keep the speed down on these bikes! Have fun!

that doesn't bode well...which is also why I no longer ride or own one...nor am I likely to in the future...when you start thinking 140 is a bit slow....it's time to "step away from the car" (but I can secretly envy your ownership) Nice ride!

today at work, someone asked, 'WHY DID YOU BUY THAT?" sarcastic emphasis on THAT. an attitude like THAT only proves to me that the guy does not appreciate the 'ride' as a whole.
isn't it a pity.

Amen. I think that style bike is such a great setup. Nothing but good things written about "standards" in general in the mags, etc. I saw a street tripple at the bash, too tall? That IS a shame. I know folks who have lowered sprints, etc for their inseams, but hey that's work. The nice thing about bikes like yours is you CAN leave em stock and like it!

this is a good point, Benny. i have a short list of wannado's; but my initial intention with frankie was to leave him pure stock for the first year. however a couple of scary-close encounters on my way to work yesterday have changed the time line on that.
frankie has to start making some noise. at first i was happy with his hush-hush way of moving across the pavement. not so happy with that right now. looking at a couple of options for new slip ons.
the other changes in mind are: custom saddle, new grips, straighter bar and maybe rear sets. i think the handlebar swap might alleviate my desire for the rear sets, all remains up in the air for now.

Nice, Mert.
I think a lot of "heavy cruiser" riders never get the "itch" to try something lighter and faster like we do. Again, I've always said these Americas and Speedmasters are just sports bikes in cruiser bodies - intended to be rode fast and hard. Makes you want and appreciate the wild side of the sport, doesn't it?
