Test-rode an '08 EFI America today - thought it was a little feeble at the top end and limited-out early - until I realised I was still in 4th. Loved it. More comfortable than SWMBO's V-Star 1100, and even though 200 cc's smaller, seemed to have more grunt. With some footboards and a little pull-back on the handlebars, it'll be perfect. WAAAAAAAAYYYYY different from my FJR 1300 of course, which I'll keep until the beginning of next season. All I have to do now is arm-wrestle with the dealer over the price of accessories - he's offered 10% of catalogue list but I think we can do a little better than that. NOW I understand what all the fuss is about............. Pedro

Sling on a Corbin with backrest and Rivco's risers and you are laughing, I loved the riding position of my america, maybe doing the same to the speedy when I pick it up a week Friday...

Well, the deed is done. Ordered an '08 EFI America with TORs, tall backrest and rack, engine guards, Roadster screen and footboards. Blue on blue. About two weeks for delivery and assembly. Not sure the FJR will be willing to share my shop with it, but SWMBO's V-Star will be humbled. Can't wait!

Nice ride ,you will definatley luv it ,especially with all the great riding roads you got up around there.one thing tho Pedro ,if your a fairly tall lad, the screens can cause a bit of buffeting at speed, memphis fats etc are a bit better in that regard.me i do without ,nothing better than getting beaten up with all the rain and shite laying on the roads down here.all the best mate. oh yea welcome to the site

Pedro are they going to remap the EFI for you after installing the TORS mufflers? Remember the stock mufflers are catalitic converts also on the carburator models anyway.Either way it may be a little too lean and need to be remapped for the EFI.I would love to ride the new one to see the difference.See some things are better up in the great white north. We don't get the EFI until 2009 models here.Enjoy the new bike and be sure and let us know what you think.

I know on the carberated 06 rejetting was not needed for TORS. I'm interestied to know also it they needed to remap EFI for them.

Hello Pedro. Welcome to TBA/SM anonymous. You may as well resign yourself to maxed-out credit cards and lengthy discussions about Triumph at every gas station, coffee shop,, tavern . . .
I would be unstoppable if not for law enforcement and physics.

I can totally relate to your coments on the vstar, I had an 1100 before my speedie and I'm surprised those pigs are still on the market. Never again will I ride an overly heavy, underpowered, clone of every other v-twin on the road. Whew that felt kinda good, maybe i should vent more often! Seriously though congrads may you have many miles of Triumph bliss.

Perhaps you'll consider a spin over to Nelson, BC the weekend of July 19. Heck, you're in the neighborhood man. Besides Fillo is buying us all glasses of fermented grain products. When the day's is done of course. jh

Might be nearby (although possibly on the FJR if America isn't run in yet) - SWMBO and I are doing a circle trip - up the Yellowhead to Jasper, down the Rocky Mountain trench to Glacier, Riding-to-the-Sun Hwy west to Kalispell and then up into the Kootenays so will be near Nelson - just aren't quite sure of the timing. We tend to do slightly shorter days when she's riding her own bike, but nice and relaxed. Plus the nights are WAAAAYYYY better than just going with the guys!!!!
