So the thread about the Sportster got me thinking... if you weren't riding an America or Speedy (or Triumph in general) and money was no issue, what else would you be riding?

This is not meant for bashing other bikes, although I do not care if you do; I'm just curious... when I was doing my research I considered at one point or another the following:

Honda Shadow Spirit 750, Star 650 Custom, Kawasaki Vulcan 900 custom, HD Sportster

But if money was no issue I wouldn't mind having one of these: Victory Vegas Jackpot

Money no object? I'd have my legs lengthened and ride a BMW 1200GS.

Eschewing surgery, a black-on-black Rocket III Classic with all the Corbin goodies and decked out for long distance touring. What can I say, I'm easy.

If money was not option i would have a different bike for every day. There are to many beautiful machines to narrow it down to one.

However, it must also be said, that if money were no option then i would have a Ferrari Enzo and a Jaguar XJ220. Plus a few classic Aston Martins, Bently's, Mercs to name a few and, Im sorry to say, with those parked in the garage the bikes would rarely if ever come out of the garage.

You couldn't go wrong with any of the Victory bikes.
I've never ridden a JP but I know guys that do love them and swear by that 250 rear tire. To me, a 180 rear is plenty big and probably handles better. But the Jackpot does have that semi-custom look a lot of guys go for.

It's time for a new bike man...either have 'em give you a new Speedy, or trade it in on something totally different.

Money was not an issue when I bougth my America. It fit my needs was exacty what I was looking for in terms of,weight, power, style and class.Price was just an addded bonous. At the time I was looking at Victory and BMW as well.

If I could get a second bike if cost was not a factor, and my wife would not kick my hiney. BMW would be first choise(big one with lots of bells and whistles) or a Victory Vegas 8-ball. cool bike no bells and whistles.

test rode both an 8-ball and jackpot. Liked the 8-ball
was not impressed with jackpot at all. May have been somthing wrong with the jackpot though. After I told the salesman what I thought of it they took it out of the li9ne up for demos that day.

A bunch of bikes: BMW R1100RT, HD Road King (Evo), Sucker Punch Sally 66, modern Indian Scout (S&S), Ironhead Sporty, 1972 Tiger, Moto Guzzi V7, old Indian Flathead, maybe 15 or twenty more...

Either my rpelys to your pm about the jp are not getting through or your pm keeps bouncing back to me. This is what I wrote,

Well Like I told the sales guy...It handled like a truck and
shook like a lawn mower.

I remeber as soon as I sat on it feeling a real unpleasant
vibration through the seat.Like ther was a freakin dremil tool under it.

Riding it..thing did not want to lean.I think that was from the ultra wide back tire. I rmember going into the first turn. Had to force it over.Honestly think if you started it
put it in first and let it go. It would just keep going straight until it ran into somthing.

But like I said there may have been somthing wrong with the bike. They did take it off the road after me.

The 8-ball on the other hand was a nice ride, lot of power and handled nice.

BMW was on my short list before the Triumph. An F800GS and/or R1200RT. Lack of a local dealer is what kept me from going that route. But I'm NOT unhappy with what I chose instead.

Jack, I got your PMs.
Must be that big 250 rear. Like the 240 on the R3 that makes a bike tough to turn. A 180 or so should be plenty big enough for most bikes.
Not sure about the vibration part, the Victory v-twins are usually pretty smooth.

If I could afford it, I'd would have to get Russell Mitchell of Exile Cycles to build me THE Chopper. Maybe even the Trike. And for the days the back needs a break, a HD Low Rider.

Yeah, apparently waiting for a new one when he died on the old one.

The National Motorcycle Museum over here has a few in their display - my favourite section in the museum.

The Victory dealer is a mile from my house and they are really good people to deal with. Considering my current dealer it is really a temptation. Except my next bike is going to be some flavor of tourer-and not the Victory Batwing.

It's the same bike I thought of when I saw the thread, but I wouldn't have even known about the bike if it weren't for the Richard Thompson song, which is probably my favorite motorcycle song.

I took the thread title to mean which bike would you use in a capacity from everyday commuting to long distance touring. While y'all have listed some sweet machines, I don't think I'd want to ride them very far, whether classic ride or radical modern custom.

Hang on it feels that a lot of the guys don't ride every day and so that's why they can put the esteemed classics they've put....

As for me, if I didn't have my Americas, I'd have a Black Bonnie. That, after all is what I was gonna have till I saw the 03....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

If Triumph is banned from the list,
1. Vincent twin.
2. Ariel 4.
3. Brough Superior.
4. Crocker.
5. Velocette Venom.
6. Sunbeam S series twin.

Oh, and don't forget the Riley Cyclecar.
