Forget the glue - it's messy and hard to remove later. Just use some hairspray and let it sit for a few hours. Much easier to work with.
Definitely scuff up the bar ends for the hairspray to adhere. (should be part of the instructions) I used some wet sandpaper to dull the chrome.
