Rolling along at around 60 on a two lane road, a car coming the other way begins to just about bulldoze asphalt with his front tires in order to stop, around 100 feet ahead of me. As I get to 50 feet away, his nose comes up an inch and his car starts twitches a few inches toward the yellow line to turn left. While I'm testing the limits of my brakes in the midst of a no win scenario, he thought better of it, and stayed put.
Got to thinking later these 'precious' moments are good to have every now & then, just as a reminder / wake up.

Did he have his blinkers on? Around here, turn signals are considered optional. People just kinda' veer around corners. It takes awhile to get used to, but not bad once you get the hang of it. Ride safe jh

Around here, people leave their blinkers on for 10 miles. I call it an "Eventual Left".

In So Cal, blinkers are only used as a diversion and have nothing to do with the drivers actual intentions. If a nooby actually turns on the left blinker to change lanes to the left, people up to 6 miles back will speed up to try and block the move. Freeway driving there is a competitive sport.

That kinda driving seems to be spreading all over the country. Especially BMW car drivers. They feel duty bound to get at the head of the line-where ever that is.
Then there is the tuner driver but they are self eliminating. On a nice divided street with large oak trees in the center island close to my house, these folks don't seem to be able to keep it between the lines. Either that or the trees are reaching out for them at night but in a little over a year, there have been 3 fatalities of tuner cars in the wee hours of the morning. One kid just got back from Iraq and kind of misjudged where the curbs were. Bled to death two miles from an EMS station.
