Bought my Speedmaster Sept 28th 2005 from the guys at Cal BMW/Triumph in Mountainview. I commute 42 miles per day five days a week except when fog is on the ground or raining. Today turned 22,925 miles. Just ready for my third front tire, on my second rear tire, new front break rotors with third set of pads, still on second set in rear, new chain at 9,000 miles and many oil changes. I do all my own work and have had more pleasure riding this bike than I can say. I hope to pass this bike on to my son and will be buying a Triumph rocket 3 touring as a second bike soon. I would think you could be happy with either a speedy or an america now that they have the same engines. I still like the idea of having a carburetor but I guess that is a thing of the past for all new triumphs. To date had my horn replaced on warranty and other than that nothing else broken.
Best of luck and ride safe.
See you up at Alices on 35 some time.
