Sorry snows...I call BS on this. Im a trainer for Best Buy (I teach Home Theater Audio and Video) and this is the type of false info that has been floating around for years! Typically spread by the "my friend heard" method.
The truth...
The "half life" of some of the original plasmas was 50,000 hours. (Half life being the point where the TV would have lost half its light output). Even at 50,000 hours that would be 2083 24hour days of watching TV straight or just under 6 years.
Newer plasma sets (last number I got officially was a couple years ago) will go over 75,000 hours easily before hitting the half life.
Again...sorry if it seems like I attacked but for some reason that little falsity gets to me.
