Get a windscreen and the bugs issue pretty much goes away cept maybe the occasional Junebug that might sail in just over the top of the screen like a "sinker" bug.
A good windscreen will keep you bug free. As to the wearing of a helmet. Its all a matter of personal choice.
And thats NOT sarcasm.
