The spec change on the gap is the sensor/pickup coil under the right cover that sends the firing pulse to the ignitor, changed from 1.0 mm to 0.8 mm and reported to cure future ignition failures.
Please swap your original coils first and see if the problem migrates with the coil, it's going to be the only way to truly diagnose the problem.
