says scooters have suddenly become very popular, http://www.cnjonline.com/news/scooter_28558___article.html/gas_jones.htmlWho woulda thunk? People aren't even asking the price anymore, just the fuel mileage. I'm trying to talk Lowes into putting in a hitching post and water trough out back so I can ride the horse to work.

There is a guy I know that I see at the coffee shop I stop at every morning. He is one of those guys that would be one of the last people you would think would ride a scooter (big time moopar guy and has a couple vintage bikes). He comutes on a Buddy 125 and is saying that he gets 100 mpg.

It's all about the gas mileage these days. Good choice.

I've been thinking about scooters as well. BUT, I get 55 mpg solo (when I ride nicely) and 44 mpg two-up. I don't know if the increase in gas mileage will justify the extra expense....

What I don't understand is why people buy the topend scooters. They cost as much and burn at least as much fuel as a real motorcycle, so why put up with the mod image and silly little wheels?

The other day I was minding my own business riding the TBA down the freeway at 70 or so when a scooter blew me like I was standing still. I think it was a 650 Burgman.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

One reason is because some are too stove up to get their leg over a bike. My old man is one of those. He can just barely get on the wife's 250 Virago. He would really like a 650 Burgman. I worry about him dumping the thing and not being able to pick it up. At least his spirit is willing. Dan

They have dabbled at it. Dodge built a Viper V10 powered bike and in the 80's Porsche built about the ugliest concept bike I ever saw.

So, it's a KTM painted blue and white instead of orange and black?
It's a huge shame that the lawyers killed VW's GX3. I think that light weight 3 wheeled vehicles could be the comuter vehicle of the future.

The article says that the GX3 is back on the table, but doesn't give any details.
