Made a couple of changes this past weekend that made a BIG improvement.
First, I replaced the cheezy little aftermarket mirrors the original owner put on with Kuryakyn Magnum Plus mirrors on Brent's adapters. Wow, what an improvement. I no longer have to grab the mirror to hold it still enough to tell a dump truck from a police cruiser.
Second, and even better, I replaced the OEM Brigestones with Metzler Marathon 880's. Not only do they not try to follow the seams and squiggles, I don't even feel them anymore. Cornering seems more confident, though that could be just in my head.
Unfortunately it poured buckets most of the weekend, but I did get enough riding in to know that the Metzlers have really good wet traction.
