All I ask, if we plan for a 2009 ralley, can we have it at least a month earlier. Makes it much easier for getting off work, and a bit warmer for us who lack heated clothing,,haha.

I think it will be fine as long as we don't start riding at the butt crack of dawn. Leaves are really beginning to turn now. Should be great scenery... if you go slow enough to view it.

Dont think it will be cold enough for heated clothing, anyways we dont see that kind of weather till late December. October is the best time to ride the Ozarks nothing like a cool fall ride....

I just returned from taking a few days off with my GF. We spent the last three days in the Ozarks and stayed in a log cabin on Lookout Mountain off of Highway 7 about 7 miles outside of Jasper and about 40 miles from Eureka Springs. If the weather holds up, the riding in AR will be absolutely beautiful this weekend. The leaves are almost ready to turn on their full colors, and the temps are crisp but bearable in the mornings and PERFECT for riding later in the mornings and into the afternoons. Most of the roads in AR like Highway 7 are twisty two lane blacktops and VERY well maintained. We started out this morning around 7:30 to return to Little Rock, and we left the top down on the roadster the whole way. In fact, we never put the top up the whole time. The views on the way back were absolutely gorgeous as we looked down into the fog filled valleys of the Ozarks in the early morning light. With little traffic that time of morning, I was able to open Emmy up and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to put her through her paces in the twisties as I snicked the gears up and down through the turns. Can't wait to have the same experience on the Speedy in a couple more days with you guys.
For those of you who have never ridden the country highways of Arkansas (especially in the fall), I think you're going to have the time of your lives.
I am humbly suggesting that the "Arkansas Rally" be renamed the "Razorback Rally."

Thanks for the preview, John. I only hope that I will be defrosted by the time I get to the site. I might have to have help prying my fingers off of the bars. (I'm a wimp when it comes to cold)

Rich, you might want to head out today then, I heard snow is in the forecast for your area this weekend

Met him in Adairsville, GA this morning and saw him head off toward the west around noon in Scottsboro, AL. We had a nice, chilly ride and I'm betting he'll be putting those chaps back on

So do we have a hard count on attending? Any last minute showups? And is the Riders Rest Motel like the rally point where everyone is hanging out?

Did not need the chaps, it warmed up nicely in Mississippi.
Made it into Collierville,TN on the east side of Memphis and put in for the night. Rain tomorrow (maybe), but a shorter day, just going as far as Conway, AR and then hope to join up with JCBullen Friday AM for the ride into Eureka Springs.

That's not fair Tom. You are already having fun, I have one more day of work. I'm figuring on 14-20 folks. There were a few undecided. Yes, the Riders Rest will be our central meeting place since most people are staying there. Anything we may need is not far away.

It's Thursday morning and the rain has pushed on. Temps for today through saturday should be in the mid 60's, mid 70's for sunday. Also, clear skys. Arkansas is offering great riding weather this weekend. I wish I could join everyone, however, I'm stuck in Hot Springs at my store.

Yep! When the weather gets cool, they get frisky. The last thing on their mind is crossing the road safely. Hence the increase amount of road kill seen on my daily commute.

Made it into Conway, AR where myself and anything that was not tightly wrapped in plastic are drying out... Nasty rain with a light but steady crosswind out of the south all morning. Finally in the sunshine around Bald Knob. Overall my rally bag did a good job, but that was a lot of rain and one good wash over from a semi on 55 in West Memphis.
Weather looks gorgeous now, looking forward to riding up to Eureka Springs with JCBullen in the AM.

if you ride the pig trail make sure you get gas before you get north of I40. no gas at 23 and I40 either. No gas in Combs or St Paul. Have to go 16 to Crosses or pig trail north of st paul to Hunstville.........
Nice ride from Hot springs is 7 to 22 to 23. what happened to the thursday arrivals?
oh and the pig trail is nowhere even close to being the dragon.

Moe and I rode 62/412 for 200 miles from Eureka springs across the north of Arkansas before he split off on 412 East headed for I 40 and Nashville and I went south on US63 back toward Memphis and US64 East. It was a beautiful day and an excellent road through Yellville and Mountain Home and points east, including the crossing at Norfolk Lake. In Ravenden, just before we split up, we stopped for gas and chasing us down the road came a guy on a 66 Tiger who said he was saddling up when he saw us go past and told his wife he was going to catch us and talk to "them limeys": Tomorrow it is 64 East to TN55 north through Tullahoma and then on to Maryville and down across the dragon and points south.
