I don't mean to brag or anything, but the room I reserved is the 'Steve McQueen' room. How cool is THAT???

You know John, that means you will have to try and jump a fence for us on your bike like Steve did in the "Great Escape".

I'm in!!! Got the go-ahead today! Actually it was more like (sigh) fine..... go ahead.... (more sighs) lol. I guess I need a shirt in either L or XL, will there be enough for me to try one of each and keep the one that fits?

Sounds good Dave. There might be extra shirts, because we have gone over the 15 and now I will have to order a batch of 25. I'll probably be ordering in a couple of weeks.

Also I called the Ridersrest Motel and there is one room left, so grab it while you can. Anne at 479-253-9815.

I asked her if there was overflow could she recommend a motel close by. She said she would reccomend the Eureka Suites at 479-253-9815. http://eurekasuites.com/ It is just down the road.

Question for the organizers. Are there going to be events/rides/etc. on Sunday, or are we gonna leave for home that day?

Hmmm. What if it is BOTH? We are having cool weather this week, which turns a fellows mind to thoughts of seven day weekends in the Ozarks...

I know a few people aren't leaving until Monday, so I'm thinking of planning a ride on Sunday, several people aren't heading back home until Monday, including me. I'm going to see if Donny and I can get together this week and plan the rides. THensley offered to map them out and post them here since I'm a computer idiot.

Looking for anyone who wants to hook up with me and roadworthy for the ride down. I'll be leaving from the southeast corner of Iowa, meeting R just west of St. Louis. PM me if you are interested.

Looks like we would be getting there (Springfield) between 2-3 pm if everything goes to plan, probably closer to 3

Not sure yet on the full times. Slojo figured he would meet me in Lowry City, about an hour and a half north of springfield at about 11am, so would put us in Springfield about 12:30 or 1pm. So would be way ahead of you guys, but I havnt heard a finalized time frame yet, so anything could change at this point. I am sure we will keep you up dated

I give up. I've just debunked the old myth that if your self-employed, you can set your own hours. Due to staffing issues (again), chances of me coming is slim to none. Apparently, the economy isn't that bad, people don't want to work.

Actually, I'm a poser, a wannabe who doesn't own a bike, who's online persona is of a tough biker dude.

On a lighter note, late Oct. is the perfect time to tour NW Arkansas.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Below are links to maps of the Saturday ride. Eureka Springs to Clarksville via AR 21 and Clarksville to Eureka via AR 7.
Paul and Donny picked some good routes. I can produce more detailed maps if anyone needs.

What's in Clarksville? I looked at the town website, but those don't tell you much. Those must be some good routes, the one takes 2 1/2 hours to go 92 miles

The software is pretty conservative in time estimates but they are nice curvy mountain roads with some scenic overlooks, etc. Clarksville is a place to fill up with gas and get a snack since it will be a late lunch in Jasper.

No monkees but there is a rehab center for big cats just out of Eureka Springs. About 50 retired lions, tigers, etc. hang out there. Come to think of it there was a monkey there last time I visited!
All puns intended.

My son wants to go there but I don't think he even has a 2.0 average. He's smart but doesn't like to do homework.

Paul,

If it is any consolation, I graduated HS with a 2.0 for the same reason. My wife, who was the 4.0+ valedictorian of our graduating class now works for me.

Only a couple of weeks to wait now...

Thom

I'd like a peek too, although I'm agreeable to what is available. (Hope it sports the Union Jack.)(And, if it was WAY cool, I'd consider an additional one)
