ARK RALLY '08 DATE CHANGE!!!

Okay guys I am going to make a major change in the date of the Rally. It is now going to be October 24th-26th.
We will have the whole Riders Rest motel. There are 10 rooms 7- with 2 Double beds and 3- with King beds. That will be room for 17 of us if we double up. The owner said this is a great time of year when the trees are changing and it's not overly hot. She said we could even have a campfire in the evenings. It is a little bit east of Eureka Springs so we should have to deal with less tourist traffic. Also she said there is a wonderful bike friendly rest. just a quarter mile away. There is a BYOB outside bar and covered parking for the bikes. You can check out the pictures on www.ridersrest.com. Call Anne for your reservation at (479)253-9815.

ps: Anne is a Brit and said she grew up a mile away from the Triumph factory so she is excited to have us stay there.

Okay, the 2d Bonnevilleamerica.com ARK Rally is going to be held Friday September 5th through Sunday the 7th. It is going to be based in Eureka Springs with rides east of there near the Bufflao River area. Saturday's big ride will be determined a little later. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to join the fun! Donny, Hill and I will check on some biker motels and maybe do a little scouting before the run. Details to follow.

The Alpen Dorf Motel site isn't working right. You can get to it by pulling up www.eurekaspirngs.com then go to motels/hotels. The site says it is a little west of town on hwy 62. Nice views.

Sounds good Bill. I hope you can swing it. If you're near Tulsa, you could ride over with me and Donny. I suspect we are going to take that Friday off and leave early in the morning. I am going to try and get over there for an overnighter towards the end of this month, and check out some of these motels before the rally.

Thanks Dan. That Riders Rest, all bike motel, looks interesting. From what I read it has only 10 rooms and camping, we may need more rooms. Also, that sounds a little too much like a quaint little inn we once visited.

Maybe you could get one of those auxilary gas tanks, Troy.

If Donny, Dan and I can get over there some weekend this summer maybe we could meet you. Donny and I still want to do maybe a weekend trip. I think it would be good to scout out a ride or two. Since you're a tech guy maybe we could do maps, itinerary, etc. Thanks for the offer to help plan. We may get back with you after we figure out what we are doing...and that might be a while.

Sounds good, Tom. You'll have lots of good riding before you get there. Oh, it will be interesting alright. Especially since Yota and Charlie are coming. Hide the pretty women and liquor.

Let me know and I will try to meet you guys. I have only lived up here 18 mos. and was bikeless for most of that time so haven't ridden a lot of the roads up here but have travelled most in a box and have a cousin who comes over from TX every year to ride this area on a B ite M y W allet bike so he would be a good source.

Sounds like a plan. I travelled some of the roads over there yesterday. Parts of 23 south of Eureka has gottn a bit worn since i was last on it. Thought you guys might want to look at Hwy 7 south of Harrison, 43 to Ponca, 21 and 23 as alternate routes to or from Eureka.
There is also a good ride up into So. MO. along 86 and Hwy F to Roaring River state park. Pretty decent little bike shop at Gateway, AR and bikegadgets.com store/warehouse West of Eureka on 187. 187 accross the White River/Table Rock Lake is closed right now due to high lake level but should be down by Sept if the monsoons stop.
Anyway, random thoughts and odds and ends thrown out for consideration.

Do we have suggested hotel / motels yet? Just this close to booking...

Looks like I have flight clearance from the boss for the rally.

I never got an e-mail back from Riders Rest Motel last Friday. I tried to call just now and the answering machine is on. I will keep trying this afternoon. Hill did a recon. trip last week when he was in the area and checked out some motels. He thought Ridersrest would be a good one. The problems is they are booked for Sept. 5-7th.
Does anyone have a problem with changing the dates to Sept 12-14th or Sept. 26th-28th? It might be worth it to get this motel. If you all want to stick with the dates we have, Dan recommended 3 other motels Bavarian Inn www.eureka-net/bavarian; the 1876 INN and the Pide Piper all on the main road. Let me hear from you all about chaning the dates.

I finally got somebody at the Ridersrest. Problem was her computer got blown from the storms this weekend. I am supposed to call back on Wednesday. Dan, would this still be first choice for our group? The Bavarian Inn is outside of town a little ways on 5 acres and looks good also. I'm just afraid we would never get Yota out of the heart shaped jacuzzi. Seriously the prices at the RR look a little more reasonable $45-65. At the Bavarian they start at $79 for a single with a queen bed and $102 for 2 queens. Plus the the Bavarian Inn Rest is supposed to be good for those who like German food. I'm still on it guys, and will let you know. Hopefully we can have the motel firmed up by this week.

So far I am counting 12 of us. She said if there is an overflow she can reccommend another hotel for the stragglers. I've made my reservation for a double, I think Donny and I are sharing a room. Sorry Yota

I hope you can make it Tom. Of course that time of year a rainsuit is standard equipment. I forgot to mention there are campsites for those so inclined.
