Back in 1980 one of my sailors was tossed in jail in TJ for hitting a cop in a bar fight and I had to go visit him. The cop was not in uniform or on duty so after a few days they let him out with a big fine. My sailor also had to pay a Mexican lawyer who was connected to the local hotshots and his buddies took up a collection for him. The jail was a pit but he said the food wasn't bad. I only had to go the one time and it was enough to make me decide I'd rather pay the bribes.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
