I just checked mine while remounting the tire at 29,000 plus odd miles, and there is virtually NO slop in it that I can feel. Make sure you are measuring the slop between just the sprocket assembly and the rim, and no drivetrain slop. I was surprised to say the least after reading these posts. I just grabbed the sprocket with one hand and the rim (around the hub) by the other and tried rotating the sprocket back and forth.
