I have been riding bikes for 30 years and I have never had this happen before. I have 10500 miles on my bike and the front tire is slick. The back tire is almost gone too. I have always wore out two fronts to one back.I know some of you took off the stock tires and replaced them, but for the ones who wore out there stock tires, did this happen to you and what kind of miles did you get out of the set?

Mine wasn't quite two fronts to a back, from memory I got about 15000km out of the original front bridgestone and about 22000km out of the rear. I've had about the same again (15000km) from the metzeler I replaced the front with. FYI that's about 9300 and 12500 miles.

I have 11,000 miles on both front and rear. Original metzler's. They both seem to be wearing at about the same rate. There is some slight cuping on the front but both still have servicable life in them.

My stock tires lasted around 8000 miles. I'm on my third set of Avon Venom X tires. They don't last very long with me, usually about 6000 miles. The front doesn't wear as fast but it is pretty close to the rear in terms of wear, close enough that I usually replace them at the same time. The extra few hundred miles I could get out of the front tire isn't worth dealing with the tires twice.
Needless to say, I'm tough on tires...

Same here, only less mileage. I've gone thru the original bridgescraps, and am on my second set of Avons at nearly 14,000 miles. So I'm getting about 5-6000 per set. As FJ mentioned, front isn't as worn as the rear, but there isn't enough left to justify the hassle and down time, so I replace both each time. I've got a spare set sitting in my closet downstairs. The last time I had the dealer order them for me and it was well over $400 for the tires and installation. I can have them shipped to my door for $215 from Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse.......

I only got 8,000 miles on the original Bridgestone front tire. The rear still had meat on it, but I changed it out at the same time that I put on my Avons. I have about 18,000 on the Avons and they still look good. I'll probably put a new set on after this coming riding season. Ride safe and often.
