I've been running both products for a few years now with no problems. I have the chrome frame with a single bar of LEDs at the top (
pic), and the Back-off module wired up so that I can un-plug it, remove it and restore the stock brake light function in about five minutes (including taking off the license plate frame). Never really needed to, though.
