Didn't they win something or other once about 40 or 50 years ago?

According to the Yahoo scoreboard, they are currently leading 1 - 0, second inning. They are likely to win, unlike the Brooklyn bums, they tend to keep it up when they get off to a good start.

The posibility of a Windy City series is looking better but some thing stupid would probably happen and we'll get the barf bag sunshine state series instead. Just had a spasim of pain thinking about that one too long!

I must say Baseball is a fantastic game - been to see the Yankees play although look out for Texas Rangers. We get the games on TV over here - my son is a Cards fan - hits me with all the stats. We are planning a trip to take in a few games next season. Another great sport you guys have is Ice Hockey been to see the NY Rangers play at the Garden - absolutely magic! So here's to Baseball and Ice Hockey On the otherhand American Football and Basketball ....but then I love cricket

Cricket ????? are you mad, hours of standing about doing nothing followed by moments of standing about doing nothing. I have had more excitement watching paint dry. Its alomost as bad as watching Formula 1 car racing or Chess on telly.

The White Sox own the last two championships in Chicago, they are the kings in Chicago. The Cubs have more losing years than winning, but now that they are spending Yankees type of money, they ought to win. It just funny how much they usually have spent and get no results.

Well, the Cubs won 8 - 4 yesterday. Don't see much cricket on telly in the US. That's because nobody can afford to sponsor an 8 day game on the tube. We used to get to see some rugby (now, that's a game to watch!) on BBCA, but now they are stuck on those crappy auction off the attic contents shows and other such crap.

In football, the object is for the quarterback, otherwise known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault, riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz, even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing this aerial assault with a sustained ground attack that punches holes in the forward wall of the enemy's defensive line.
In baseball the object is to go home! And to be safe! "I hope I'll be safe at home!"

...they are the kings in Chicago.
My A$$! the White Sox are kings in Chicago. He!! they have a hard time selling out US Sell-Ur-Soul Field until the playoffs on the odd years that Sox are going to make them. Not a rant against the Sox but what a biased, self-glorifying statement. They may have won the two previous baseball championships in Chicago, and I congratulate them for that, but it certainly does not make them the kings in this town.
Having grown up on the southwest side of Chicago as a Cubs fan I am very aware of the "partisan" bickering that goes on between Cubs and Sox fans alike. I like both teams but if it comes down to it my heart is blue. Some believe it is not possible to like both teams. Why not? They are not even in the same league. I tend to side with the Cubbies 'cause that is what the old man and both grandfathers watched but I have probably been to more Sox games overall in my life. Easier for Mom to get me and my brothers to a game, at what used to be known as Comiskey Park, when the old man was working. I also tend to disagree with the American League's love of the designated hitter rule. Nobody grew up playing ball that way. 9 men go on the field for defense, the same 9 men should be all that are allowed to go on the field for offense. Way to keep the old timers around that can't field but can still swing a bat. Yeah, that's real baseball.
Having said all that, I cannot even comment on my opinions about the Cardinals. I believe what I might have to say would violate the AUP.

I was just reading about Alfonso Soriano........ Apparently you can get booted out of the park for booing him!!! Isn't the whole idea of the game to HIT, RUN, THROW and CATCH? I guess the catch part is not important anymore. Oh yeah.....Go Cards

Earthquakes, typhoons, floods, hurricanes and tornados: this is all due to the Cubs winning. The earth has been thrown off it's axis and mother nature is taking revenge. An 8 run deficit and they still win 10 to 9: I feel a big one coming!

Yep! But I think you can REALLY blame most of these catastrophes the last few years on that relatively new phenomenon known as..."Red Sox Nation", Mike.
You see, once those Beantown Boys finally won it all a few years back, THAT'S when everything REALLY started goin' haywire, ya know!
(but that's okay...once the LAKERS kick the CELTICS behinds in The NBA Finals comin' up, the world will start returning to it's natural order once again, dude!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
