sorry to be a pain but i am reading these posts on removing baffles etc but on which pipes? what i mean is, when talking about drilling them out are you guys talking about slashcuts or the earlier silencers, i have a pair of spare speedmaster early exhausts and want to remove the baffles but can i drill these? or do i have to remove the ends like in dinqua's posts on his web page, also are there any photos so that i can follow an easy way of removing the baffles if drilling? any help appreciated ,many thanks,

As far as I know you have to cut the tapered part off, I have done it. Didn't know dinqua had that on his site.
Edit: I was looking at his page and I didn't have to mess with the mounting bolts at all, still have the stock ones in every set I have done.I go about the actual removal a little differently too from what I read , but I have to admit to just skimming over it. I didn't read it word for word.

I did it the way Dog said in his threads last weekend, was very easy. Cut the taper off with a chop saw. Only down side was listening to my teenage daughter wineing about haveing to sit in the sparks spraying oil on the pipes so they would not blue. I got a good chuckle about it though. Had her boy friend holding the pipe on the saw..

What Dingua did was cut off the cones, remove the baffles, insert some aftermarket ones tuned and wrapped to make the sound he wanted, and welded the cones back on.

I did my Speedmaster pipes without cutting off the tapered ends. PIA to drill into the end with the taper and grind the junk off to open the hole big enough to get the baffles out, but it was worth it to me not to have to go through the hassle of welding the cones back on, and I like the tapered end enough to keep them. I used a piece of drill rod and and a piece of 1/2" black pipe to beat out the baffles I couldn't get a drill bit too. After I was all done, I spray painted the inside of the tapered ends black to hide some of my butchering.

I used a big plumbers pipe cutter to lop off my end cones. No blueing and it leaves a nice slightly rolled edge.

I removed baffles w/o cutting the cones off. First tried a hole saw but had trouble getting an acceptable start. I compensated by centerpunching a series of spots about 3/32" apart around the perimeter of the inner pipe then drilled 1/16" holes at each centerpunch mark. The remaining metal is easily broken with a tap of a cold chisel (small chisel). Once the inner pipe was extracted, I filed the rough edges of the remaining hole.
Oh, after breaking free the inner pipe I used a long rod to bend the baffle to come out the hole. Just take your time and FIRMLY clamp the silencer in a soft cloth to keep from scratching the outside - a work-mate bench vise is perfect.

I made cannon style out of mine, never welded the cones back on.
