Follow the manufacturers specification. They've engineered it, and you are working with aluminum here.



From the Triumph service manual:

NOTE:
' Use se¡vice tool 3880105-T0301 to ensure
accuracy when angle-tightening.
CAUTION: Failure to use the correct
procedure to tighten the cylinder head
nuts could result in failure of the cylinder head
gasket.


The 90 degrees is apparently critical, so mark it somehow, use a protractor perhaps.
