Don't quite know where to post this so I'm trying here move it
if its the wrong spot.
My only close call at the Georgia Rally was on the way home. Route 77 in the passing lane idiot in a MiniVan almost pulls out in front of me I sound my horn and I can barely hear it let alone the dork in the van. So after the trip I got in my head that the standard horn was not enough. It just came tonight. horn Took about 5 seconds to install so god knows how quick someone who actually knows what a wrench works could do it. Anyways tried it out almost sounds like a loud bike horn from the 70s. Anyone else feel the factory horn is not enough???

It's lame.

Bless Brent for trying, but it still sounds wimpy...
The problem with bike horns is that there's only one. You need that hi-lo combo at 135 db or more, like a 60's car, for anybody to hear you over their radio/kids/cellphone conversation with the windows up, ac on, etc..
Mounting 2 horns is a pain and in my opinion, not a good look. The Stebel horn seems popular - I've never heard one - but again, I don't like the look.
Some day, I'll get it figured out, but till then I have a 135db Wolo lo tone on my TA. More of a "honk" than a "meep meep".

I've got the Stebel, loud enough to make your ears bleed and it's got that high-low dual note. Yes it's dog ugly but if you mount it right it's practically invisible. Between my triple headlights, thunderpipes, and stebel horn you've really got to be trying to not know I'm there.

With 16" shorty "mufflers", I don't need a horn.
Pull in the clutch and crack the throttle, they'll hear you.

Neither do I, so I stuck mine here:

Of course you need to be Ghetto/Freak'd. It's still real loud in this location.

Bike runs about 10-15 degrees cooler (per the screw-on temp gauge) without the oil-cooler being blocked by a horn. Drove for an hour today with temp close to 100 ambient and didn't reach 200 indicated on the gauge. Yes, I know the gauge can't be very accurate, but it's a good benchmark.

Regards,

Tom

I think the gauge is pretty accurate, there is a gear right under it that slings oil on it as long as the engine is running. I am planning on the Stebel or Bad Boy soon. JackW has the Bad Boy and that sucker is loud too. I don't think that has the piece to split it into 2 parts though from what I have seen, the Stebel does.
